Hint:Forests play a very important role in holding the world together. The trees play a key role in absorbing carbon dioxide and expel oxygen. Global warming has increased over the years because of cutting down forests for roads, cities, and livelihood for people.

Complete step by step answer:
Role of forest in improving the quality of air-
It absorbs carbon dioxide during photosynthesis which greatly reduces greenhouse gases and purifies the air by adding oxygen in the atmosphere. The transpirations plays a key role in formation of clouds which gives a cooling effect. The forest also absorbs both suspended particles and gaseous pollutants.
Role of forests in improving the quality of soil-
The plant roots hold the soil firmly thus preventing soil erosion and also helps to increase the underground water level. Adds nutrients to the soil due to the vegetation present in the forest getting decomposed. Forest cover protects the soil from direct pounding by rain drops. Forest soil is also sufficiently porous to reduce runoff and increase infiltration of rainwater.
Role of forest in improving quality of water-
Forest helps in bringing rain and increasing the level of water in the underground and water bodies. Forests help in increasing the amount and periodicity of rain fall as transpiration helps in formation of clouds. Forest trees retain a lot of water at their bases and percolation of water into the interior of earth produces springs which form rivulets with perennial flow of water.

Additional Information:
The biggest drivers of deforestation are agriculture and livestock production, logging, and forest fires.

Note:
The forests all around the world house more than 50% of the world's animal and plants species. The highest biodiversity of plants and animals ever recorded is in the Amazon rainforest.
