A mountain can be defined as a broad form of land that rises above the surrounding land in a controlled or limited area which is usually said to be in the form of a hill.
Following are the some of the features of mountains:-
1. A mountain is commonly thought to be steeper than a hill.
2. Mountains are steadily being eroded by rivers, weather, and glaciers.
3. High mountain elevations create colder temperatures than at sea level. These colder temperatures have a strong effect on the habitats of the mountains: various plant and animal elevations.
4. Mountains tend to be used less for agriculture and more for resource production and recreation, such as mountain climbing and skiing, due to the less hospitable terrain and climate.
5. A mountain or mountain range typically has a peak that is a pointed top.
6. Mountains have different ecosystems than sea-level land and surrounding flat land. Weather is weather for a particular region for an extended period of time. The climate of the mountains appears to have cooler humidity, weather and thinner air. Thin air means that there is less oxygen to breathe in the higher altitudes of the mountain.
7. Mountains often typically provide less hospitable environments for plants and animals. This leads to very different evolutionary adaptations for plants and animals that make higher elevations their home.
