DIALOGUE WRITING
Two friends, X and Y are meeting after a long time. They recently attended a school picnic together.
X: Hi! How are you? I cannot believe we are meeting after six weeks! It seems like it has
been an eternity. The last time we met was on the amazing picnic that our school organised for us!
Y: I am great! That picnic was the best time I have ever had! I got to spend so much time with my friends, it was exciting to be able to meet outside of school, wasn’t it? I wish it had lasted longer.
X: Me too. We had to get up so early, but it was worth it to be on the trek and see the sunrise. It was cold, too! It felt like we were in the Himalayas!
Y: It was super cold. I especially enjoyed the flower picking. It was nice to be able to take souvenirs back for my parents. The flowers were very fresh too.
X: I enjoyed that too, and we learned about each and every plant there! I also loved breakfast. I don’t think I have ever had such juicy fruit in my life! It was a scrumptious meal.
Y: I enjoyed it as well. And it was healthy. Remember the deer and horses we saw? So elegant! They were tamed but I was scared to go near them.
X: I was not scared at all. I rode a horse, it was so much fun. It was very fast but there was an instructor with all the students who rode the horses. The deer were gobbling up all the carrots left for them.
Y: I did feed a deer a carrot! It was nerve wracking but the deer was quite cute up close. The cherry on top was watching the sunset.
X: I know…I wish that had lasted a little longer. Maybe next year we will go again.
Y: I hope so!
Note: Dialogue writing is more flexible than letter writing, as there is more space to experiment. It is important to follow the format given above. Add creativity into the dialogues. Make sure to stick to the given subject and add your own facts/points.
