Communication refers to the activity of communicating; the activity of conveying information. Modes of communication refer to the different means of communicating. For example: linguistic and visual are two modes of communicating.

Modes of communication are constantly evolving with the times. A decade back, we used to rely on written communication via letters instead of audio communication via telephones. Twenty years ago, we used to rely on SMS, and today, we rely on the internet.

The one change I like best would have to be the change in speed of communicating. In earlier times, a telegram or a letter rallied important information after a long time, simply because there was no faster means of communication. Today, a message can be sent in milliseconds to anywhere in the world.

Suffice to say, communication and its modes constantly change as times roll by.
