Hint: In 1966, Crick proposed the Wobble Hypothesis. Anticodon recognizes only one codon at a time normally, but many times it recognizes more than one codon this process is known as wobbling.
For the third nucleotide, normally wobbling occurs. The third base is called the wobble base and is present at the wobble position. Due to the wobble pairing, codon and anticodon do not match perfectly then the amino acid brought perfectly during translation.
Complete answer:
Now, we at the options that we are provided with –
Peptide chain formation – Peptide bond formation occurs by the linking of two amino acids and the dehydration (loss of molecule of water). The series of amino acids join by peptide bonds to form a polypeptide chain.
Initiation of peptide chain – In prokaryotes initiation required the large and small ribosomal units. The smaller subunit binds to initiator mRNA and then it binds to the larger subunit so that initiation codon (AUG) lies on the P-site.
Termination of peptide chain – Termination of peptide chain happens when a stop codon in the mRNA enters the A site. Three termination codons are - UGA, UAG, and UAA.
Economy in tRNA molecules – The wobbling hypothesis helps to maintain the economy in the number of RNA molecules. Wobble base pairing brings about the economy of tRNA. Valine (amino acid) is coded by GUU, GUC, GUA, and GUG.
So, the correct answer is option (D) Economy in tRNA molecules.
Note-
The tRNA stands for transfer RNA. It is a special kind of molecule of RNA. It helps to match a mRNA codon with the amino acids. There are four wobble pairs guanine-uracil, inosine-uracil, inosine-adenine, inosine-cytosine. A wobble base pair is a non-Watson-Crick base pairing between the two nucleotides in RNA molecules.
