Hint: Raichur in Karnataka, is located between the two converging rivers of Krishna and Tungabhadra in the doab region making its land extremely fertile for growing a variety of crops like cotton, chillies and sesame.
Complete answer:
Raichur fort was built by Kakatiya King Rudra in 1284 CE. Ever since, the fort has been a bone of contention for nearly two centuries after the fort was taken by Bahmanis in 1323 CE. Saluva Narasimha Raya expressed his wish to capture the city of Raichur which remained in the mind of Krishnadevaraya since his coronation in 1509. Krishnadevaraya sent a Muslim in his service, Seyed Maraikar to Goa with money to buy horses but instead Maraikar deserted him and went to Adil Khan with the money and offered his services. Krishnadevaraya made a demand that Maraikar be returned along with the money which was duly refused. During peacetime Krishnadevaraya made rigorous preparations for an attack on Raichur doab and after the court decided to attack Raichur the king invited all his Nayakas in his service to take part in the battle.Let's take a look at options.
Muhammad Shah : Mohammed Shah was the second ruler of the Bahmani Sultanate, a late medieval kingdom of India which is better Krishnadevaraya hence this is incorrect.
Ismail Adil Shah: Ismail Adil Shah of Bijapur had taken Raichur fort while Krishnadevaraya was busy in Kalinga. Hence this is correct.
Feroz Shah: Feroz was a Mughal ruler who never fought against Krishnadevaraya hence this is incorrect.
Ahmad Shah: He is the founder of Ahmedabad who never fought against Krishnadevaraya hence this is not the correct option.
Hence, the correct answer is option (B)
Note: Raichur surrendered to Krishnadevaraya who made a grand entry into the city and treated the garrison with kindness and consideration but he was brutal towards Bahamani generals of Raichur as they had killed many Hindus.
