Black soil is known as self-ploughing soil. It is also called cotton soil or regular soil. It is the third major group of soil occurring in India. As the colour of the soil is black hence the name is black soil. It is best suitable for growing cotton in addition with groundnut, sugarcane, tobacco, wheat, millets, and oilseeds.
Features of Black soil-
It is rich in potassium and magnesium calcium carbonate and lime but poor in nitrogen and phosphorus.
