Hint: A joint is the part of the body where two or more bones meet to help us in movement. Every bone in the body – except the hyoid bone in the throat – meets up with one other bone at a joint. The shape of a joint determines its function. A joint is also called an articulation.

Complete answer:
A joint is a connection between two bones in the skeletal system. Joints can be categorized by the type of the tissue present (fibrous, synovial or cartilaginous), or by the degree of movement permitted (synarthrosis, diarthrosis, amphiarthrosis).
A synovial joint has a fluid filled joint cavity within a fibrous capsule. They are freely movable. They are the most common type of joint found in the body. Depending on the movements permitted and the shape of their articular surfaces, they are classified as:
-Hinge joints: Permit the movement in one plane usually extension and flexion. The slightly rounded end of a bone fits into the slightly hollow end of the other bone. Here, only one bone moves but the other bone remains stationary, like the hinge of a door. Angle joints, elbow joints and knee joints are the examples of hinge joints.
-The hip joint is known as the acetabulofemoral joint. It is the joint between the acetabulum of the pelvis and the femur. Its primary function is to support the weight of the body in both dynamic and static postures.

Hence, the correct answer is option (B).

Note: Joints are supported and held together by tough bands of connective tissue called as ligaments. Smooth cartilage prevents friction as the bones move. The entire joint in a freely movable joint is enclosed inside a membrane which is filled with lubricating synovial fluid. This fluid helps to provide extra cushioning against the impact. Muscles are attached to bones with thick connective tissue called tendons.
