Hint:Domestication of animals started during the hunting and gathering phase of human civilization. When the man realized the utility of domestic animals, he began improving them by selective breeding. The various breeds of domestic animals we use evolved from the wild ancestors through selective breeding.
Complete answer:There are two methods of cattle breeding- Natural breeding and artificial breeding
Natural breeding: it may be random or controlled breeding
Random breeding: in villages, a few pedigree bulls with good draught ability are kept along with the grazing cows. This brings about random breeding. Bulls not selected for breeding are castrated while young and changed to bullocks. The latter forms the main animal draught power in our country.
Controlled breeding: it involves the crossing of native cows with superior exotic bulls. A number of foreign dairy breeds have been imported for this purpose. These include Jersey (England), Ayrshire (Scotland), brown swiss (Switzerland), Holstein Friesian (Holland), red dane, shorthorn, and Guernsey.
Improved hybrid varieties such as Jersy-Sindhi, Ayrshire-Sahiwal, and Brown-Swiss-Sahiwal have been developed from controlled breeding. Breeds call Karanaswiss and Sunandini have been produced by crossbreeding at the National Dairy research institute, Karnal and in Kerala respectively
The hybrid cows give much more milk than pure breeds. The hybrid bullocks are more agile, hardy, and energetic.
So the correct answer is option is A. Jersey.
Note:Indigenous or native breeds of an organism are native to a particular region; Freiswal, Sahiwal, and Dangi are indigenous breeds whereas Jersey belongs to England and is an exotic breed.
Artificial breeding involves inseminating the native cows with the semen of superior bulls of exotic and indigenous breeds.
