India has been blessed with contact with the water bodies from the Arabian Sea in the west, the Bay of Bengal in the east, and the Indian Ocean in the south. At present, there are 13 significant ports in India and below the following; we have some important ports located on the east coast:
Paradip Port is a natural deepwater port situated on the east coast of India in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. The port is situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi River and the Bay of Bengal.
Kolkata Port is known to be the only riverine major port of India. It is one of the oldest operating ports in India which was constructed by the British East India Company.
Visakhapatnam Port is the only port in Andhra Pradesh and it is also India's third largest state-owned port and the largest on the eastern coast.
However, Koch port is a major port situated in the Arabian Sea, on the west coast of India.
