Hint: Sugar is a “carbohydrate” that is the main source of energy to the living beings. The complex carbohydrate molecules that are taken by us are broken down in our cells to liberate energy, water and carbon dioxide gas that is exhaled by us.

Complete Step by Step Answer
Carbohydrates are biomolecules that are made of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms usually with a hydrogen-oxygen ratio of 2:1 (as in water) and thus have the empirical formula $ {{\text{C}}_{\text{m}}}{{\left( {{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}\text{O} \right)}_{\text{n}}} $ , where, ‘m’ may or may not be the same as ‘n’. However, not all the carbohydrates have this empirical formula, there are exceptions as well. For example: the deoxy-sugar such as fucose.
Sugar is a saccharide which is the common and collective term for sugars, starch, and cellulose. Depending on the number of the carbon atoms present in the compounds there can be different types of saccharide molecules. If the saccharide molecules cannot be broken down to any simpler molecules then it is called a monosaccharide, if two monosaccharide units are joined together then it is called a disaccharide, for example sugar, which can be broken down into simpler glucose units.
Hence, the correct answer here is option C, Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

Note
Sugars and other carbohydrates that are taken up by our bodies are digested in the mitochondria cells by the cellular oxidation and this energy is stored in the body in the form of ATP or Adenosine Tri Phosphate that is the source of our energy.
