It is a school where paramilitary forces, paratroopers of Parachute Regiment Special Forces and other such forces of the Indian Army are trained.

The Paratroopers Training School was set up in 1941 under the 50th Para brigade at New Delhi. After Independence, the school was permanently moved to Agra.
