Hint: There are so many branches of modern chemistry for the convenience of study. But it can generally be broken down into five main streams or areas i.e. Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Complete answer:
The five major branches of chemistry organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry can be divided into many sub-branches.
1. INORGANIC CHEMISTRY: Inorganic chemistry is the study of the properties and behaviour of inorganic compounds and elements. It covers all chemical compounds except organic compounds. In inorganic chemistry things such as crystal structures, minerals, metals, catalysts, and most elements in the Periodic table are studied.
Branches of inorganic chemistry are:
-Bioinorganic chemistry
-Geochemistry
-Solid-state chemistry
-Coordination chemistry
-Nuclear chemistry
-Organometallic chemistry
2. ORGANIC CHEMISTRY: Organic chemistry involves the study of the structure, properties, preparation, and reactions of chemical compounds which consist of carbon and hydrogen mainly.
Branches of organic chemistry are,
-Medicinal chemistry
-Organometallic chemistry
-Polymer chemistry
-Organic spectroscopy
-Physical organic chemistry
-Stereochemistry
3. PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY
Physical Chemistry is the study of the effect of chemical structure on the physical properties of a substance and changes occur when any physical change happens in any compound or substance.
Sub-branches of physical chemistry are:
-Photochemistry
-Surface chemistry
-Chemical kinetics
-Thermodynamics
-Quantum chemistry
-Spectroscopy
4. ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY: Analytical chemistry involves the qualitative and quantitative determination of the chemical components of substances.
Sub-branches of analytical chemistry are-
-Forensic chemistry
-Environmental chemistry
-Spectroscopy
-Bioanalytical Chemistry
5. BIOCHEMISTRY: Biochemistry is the study of chemical reactions that take place in living things.
-Molecular biology
-Genetics
-Pharmacology
-Clinical biochemistry
-Agricultural biochemistry
Organic, analytical and biochemistry all the three are the branches of chemistry.
So the correct answer is option (D).
Note:
Just because analytical and organic are not written with chemistry, it doesn’t mean that they are not branches of chemistry. And as biochemistry is with bio so it doesn’t mean that is a branch of biology only.
