hormones are defined as non-nutrient chemicals which act as intracellular messengers that are produced in trace amounts. Calorigenic effect is usually the measure of increased metabolic rate and increase in the consumption of oxygen. When metabolic rate is high it leads to utilisation of the body thus energy is measured in calories so known as Calorigenic effect.
Now let us see function of each hormone given in options :-
Adrenaline :- it is also known as fight, flight and fright hormone and is used in emergency situations. It increases heartbeat and not metabolic rate so it does not produce calorigenic effect.
FSH :- it is also known as follicle stimulating hormone. It regulates spermatogenesis in males and stimulates growth of ovarian follicles in females. It does not increase metabolic rate so it does not produce a calorigenic effect.
Oestrogen :- it helps to maintain follicles during menstrual cycle and does not increase metabolic rate , hence do not produce metabolic rate.
Thyroxine :- These hormones play an important role in the regulation of the basal metabolic rate (BMR). Thyroid hormones greatly increase the metabolic rate of the body and consequently, enhance heat production (calorigenic effect) and maintain BMR (basal metabolic rate). Thus this option is correct.
