Ram Singh ji even appealed to the Russians for help, but since Russia was not keen on a war with the powerful British Empire, it refused to help India. The courage he had shown to free India from the clutches of East India Company had frightened the Britishers.

Since he was the first person to raise his voice against the British, He had to spend the rest of his life in prison and exile. He was exiled to Rangoon for fourteen years where he spent his life as a state prisoner.
