Complete answer:
Sri Satguru Ram Singh ji was a Sikh philosopher and reformer who urged fellow Indians to boycott British merchandise and services. This served as a political weapon against the British. He was the first Indian to use a noncooperation movement against the British. Ram Singh ji even appealed to the Russians for help, but since Russia was not keen on a war with the powerful British Empire, it refused to help India. The courage he had shown to free India from the clutches of East India Company had frightened the Britishers.

Since he was the first person to raise his voice against the British, He had to spend the rest of his life in prison and exile. He was exiled to Rangoon for fourteen years where he spent his life as a state prisoner.
Ram Singh ji was the twelfth guru of the Namdhari Sikh community. He was born to Sada Kaur and Jassa Singh in the village of Raiyan, near Ludhiana. His guru, Balak Singh taught him the spiritual path and asked him to pass the same to his devotees.
The reasons for Ram Singh ji’s demise still remain unknown. Some historians say that he had succumbed to an illness during exile. While his devotees have a belief that he is eternal and currently living in Germany.

Note:In 2016 The government of India decided to celebrate his 200th birth anniversary , remembering the sacrifices and teachings of Ram Singh ji and imparting the same to the younger generations.
