Hint: Yarn is long fibers that are interlocked with each other; it is used for the production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery, or rope making. One of the examples of yarn is a thread which we use normally in everyday life and that is intended for sewing by hand or even machine.

Complete answer: Yarn is a type of fiber. It is made up of several strands twisted among each other. Every yarn is made up of thin fibers. These small fibers are spun to make long yarn. The characteristic of yarn depends upon the amount of spinning or the amount of twisting done to fibers when spinning. When there is a low degree of twist given to yarn it produces softer and lustrous yarn, a higher degree of twisting can result in strong yarn and a very tight twisting will produce crepe yarn. Yarns are used for cloth making, through a variety of processes like knitting, felting, sewing, and weaving.
Yarns can be natural as well as synthetic depending upon the source of fibers. The most common fiber that is used to make yarn is cotton, obtained from cotton balls. For making ropes the fibers are taken from plants or plant parts. These include linen, flax, and vegetable fiber. Fibers are also obtained from animals like wool, silk, etc. these all are natural fibers.
Yarns are made by the process of spinning. Fibers are drawn from different sources and twisted together into long yarn. Spinning fibers to make yarn is a major part of the textile industry. There are different types of spinners used in the textile industries like-ring, rotor, or air jet.

Note:
There are many different categories of yarn like fine type, medium type, double-coated type, wool, merino wool, alpaca, etc. the chemical composition may be different for every type of yarn. And the monomers for every yarn will also be different. The most common chemicals or constituents of yarn are cellulose, protein, keratin, oil, and wax, etc.
