Hint:Tubectomy is one of the methods of birth control in females. It is a type of permanent method (surgical method) and sure birth control. Tubectomy is also known as tubal sterilization. It is for those women who do not wish to conceive in the future. Care is to be taken after surgery.
Complete answer:Tubectomy is a permanent method of birth control carried out in women. This method involves the removal of a fallopian tube in a female and tying up of the remaining ends tightly with surgical thread. The operations are minor, usually performed under local anesthesia, give very little discomfort, and do not affect the sexual life. This method is very effective for birth control.
A laparoscope (a telescopic instrument) is used in tubal ligation. This blocks the fallopian tubes. Eggs continue to be produced because the ovaries are intact, but they fail to pass into the uterus and sperms fail to reach the eggs for fertilization.
The different methods of performing tubectomy are:
a) Bipolar coagulation- use of electric current to cut the fallopian tubes.
b) Monopolar coagulation- use of electric current and radiating current.
c) Tubal clip- permanently clipping of a fallopian tube
d) Tubal ring- Silastic band is used to tie the fallopian tube
e) Fimbriectomy- removal of fimbrial and infundibular portions.
Note: In a female, the process of surgical removal of a fallopian tube is known as tubectomy. It is an effective and permanent method of birth control. Through this method, the fallopian tubes are blocked and thus prevents the eggs released by the ovary from reaching the uterus.
