INCOSPAR stands for Indian National Committee for Space Research.ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) replaced its predecessor, INCOSPAR (Indian National Committee for Space Research), which was established in 1962 by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and scientist Vikram Sarabhai, who are considered amongst the founding fathers of Indian space program.
ISRO was formed in 1969 with a vision to develop and harness space technology for the development of the nation. Current chairman of the ISRO is Dr. K Sivan who joined isro in 1982 and inducted into PSLV project.From the location Satish Dhawan space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, ISRO successfully launched Chandrayaan-2, India's second lunar mission on July 22.They launched GSAT-7A known as ‘Indian angry bird satellite’ to boost defence communication.
Note: ISRO launched 104 satellites, of which 3 were Indian satellites. It was the largest number of satellites launched on a single flight by any space agency and launched 31 satellites, of which 29 were foreign. The Indian Space Research Organisation has carried out 109 spacecraft missions and 77 launch missions. They also planned several missions including the Aditya, Gaganyaan and MOM 2 for future development.
