Hint: Mole percent is the basic unit of the most widely used concept i.e. mole concept. In general, it is the type of expressing the concentration of the solution similar to the volume percent or mass percent.
Complete step-by-step answer:Let us see into the concept in detail for better understanding;
In brief, mole percent is the percentage of moles of a substance present in the total moles of the mixture. This can be easily derived as;
Mole fraction-
The ratio of the moles of a component to the total moles of the mixture is known as mole fraction of that component. It is expressed as;
Suppose we have two components in the mixture i.e. P and Q,
${{n}_{p}}$ = moles of component P.
${{n}_{Q}}$ = moles of component Q.
${{n}_{T}}={{n}_{P}}+{{n}_{Q}}$ = total moles of the mixture.
Thus, mole fraction of P $\left( {{x}_{P}} \right)$ is given as,
\[{{x}_{P}}=\dfrac{{{n}_{P}}}{{{n}_{T}}}\]
Mole percent-
The mole fraction multiplied by 100 is known as mole percent in normal language. It is commonly expressed as;
$Mole%={{x}_{P}}\times 100$ (for component P)
Note:Do note that the mole fraction and mole percent, both are unitless quantities.
And if we considered two components as above;
Mole fraction of P $\left( {{x}_{P}} \right)$ + Mole fraction of Q $\left( {{x}_{Q}} \right)$ = 1
Similarly,
Mole percent of P + Mole percent of Q = 100%.
