The grooved part of the screw is an inclined plane. The head of the screw has a groove for the tip of a screwdriver. So modern screws with their screwdrivers are a combination of two simple machines, the inclined plane and the lever. Ajar lid, a drill, spinning stool, clamp and spiral staircase are examples of the screw.
