Hint: As we know that in chemistry, periodic tables play a vital role. In the periodic table totally \[118\] elements. In the periodic table totally \[18\] columns and \[7\] rows. The columns are called as groups. Hence, \[18\] groups in the periodic table. The rows are called periods. Hence, the total \[7\] period in the table. In the periodic table the seventeenth group is the halogen group. In this group, four elements are considered as halogen out of five elements in the column. There are fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine considered as halogen in the modern periodic table.
Complete step by step answer:
We have to remember that in periodic table, \[118\] different kinds of elements in different periods and different groups. Each element is not absolutely similar to another element. Each and every element has a unique symbol. We also remember that the halogen is the most electron affinity group in the periodic table. Halogen is also the most electronegativity group in the periodic table. The ionisation energy of the halogen is very less compared to other groups. In that case, \[{\text{F}}\] is the symbol of the fluorine atom.
Hence, fluorine is the element that symbolizes \[{\text{F}}\].
Note: In general periodic table group trend wise, from top to bottom in the group electron affinity decreases. But the halogen group is different from other groups. Chlorine is the highest electron affinity species in the periodic table, because the size of the fluorine is very small compared to chlorine. That is the reason fluorine is not easy to accept the electron compared to chlorine. But, the electronegativity value of fluorine is high compared to the electronegativity value of the chlorine.
