The term indicates a form of existence determined by birth. This is basically described as any group of things that have general characteristics in common.
Jaati Panchayat is the small unit of village panchayat in which uniformity is maintained between different castes. Every village has its own jati panchayat which looks after the rights and duties of their respective classes. This is also known as caste council.
This system of Panchayat is prominently found in Northern India. This is generally composed of 5 elder members. The members consist of the renowned families persons of acknowledged qualities of leadership well and capable of impartial judgement. They are known as Panchas. Mukhya aur Pradhan is the head of the caste council or Jati panchayat.
