Stereoisomers consist of two types of isomers named Enantiomers and diastereomers.
Enantiomers can be defined as the type of stereoisomer
Enantiomers can be defined as the type of stereoisomer that are non-superimposable mirror images.
Enantiomers are the mirror images of each other like the hands of humans.
Our hands are the mirror image of each other and are non-superimposable molecules.
Let’s understand the concept of the enantiomers with the help of an example.
Example- Bromochlorofluoromethane
This molecule is the mirror image of each other and is non- superimposable on each other.
The enantiomer is well explained by the phenomenon of chirality.

So, to find whether the molecule is chiral or not, always keep in mind that the molecule is chiral if the atom has the four different functional group or simply groups or atoms around it.If the atom has four different group around it satisfying its valency, only then the molecule is chiral. And if the molecule is chiral, then it will be the non- superimposable mirror images i.e. enantiomers. In the above figure, the atom marked with the asterisk sign indicates that it is a chiral molecule as it has all the four different groups around it i.e. bromine, chlorine, fluorine and hydrogen atom. And thus, it can enantiomers.
