 The main objective of the World Health Organization is ‘the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health’. WHO is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It has 6 semi-autonomous regional offices and 150 field offices worldwide.

Its main objectives include monitoring public health risks, universal healthcare, coordinating responses to health emergencies, promoting human health and well being. It also provides technical assistance to countries and sets international health standards and guidelines.

It coordinates and oversees the procurement of health services, raises awareness of the extent of illness , suffering and death among mothers and children, and its impact on health as well as social and economic development. It also creates an interface between the developed and developing nations pertaining to health issues.
