Hint: This question as we can see is simply related to knowledge of cricket and percentages. Here we are given with the number of total runs Virat made. Also the runs he scored from boundaries and sixes are to be calculated. Then in order to find the number of runs he made in between the wickets we will subtract the runs of boundaries and sixes from total runs. And then to find the percentage of these runs we will take the ratio as runs scored between the wickets to total runs multiplied by 100.
This will give the answer!
Complete step by step solution:
Virat has scored 130 runs in total. Out of which included 5 boundaries and 8 sixes.
So runs he scored from boundaries will be \[5 \times 4 = 20\]
Then he had 8 sixes. So he scored \[8 \times 6 = 48\] runs from sixes.
Now from boundaries and sixes he scored \[48 + 20 = 68\] runs.
So the number of runs Virat scored between the wickets will be ,
Total runs – runs scored from boundaries and sixes
\[ = 130 - 68 = 62\]
So he scored 62 by running.
Now percentage of these runs will be,
\[ = \dfrac{{runs{\text{ }}scored{\text{ }}between{\text{ }}the{\text{ }}wickets}}{{total{\text{ }}runs}} \times 100\]
Putting the respective scores,
\[ = \dfrac{{62}}{{130}} \times 100\]
On dividing we get,
\[ = 0.4769 \times 100\]
Multiplying by 100 we get,
\[ = 47.69\% \]
Thus 47.69% that is almost 47.7% runs were scored by Virat by running between the wickets.
So, the correct answer is “ 47.7%”.
Note: Here note that though it is too basic a boundary means 4 runs and sixes means 6 runs! When we find the percentage of something we should know the total of that particular quantity. So that we can find its value in terms of percentage from that total.
Also note that sometimes we perform simple questions in a hurry and can write 26 instead of 62 in the above case but the answer will definitely change. So be careful in small numbers also!
