Hint :Here we have to know what a compound is when we say that the given compound is an ionic compound. Then write the elements which make up ionic compounds. Give some examples of ionic compounds.

Complete Step By Step Answer:
A compound is a substance formed when two or more chemical elements are chemically bonded together. Example pure water $ {H_2}O $ is a compound made from two elements hydrogen and oxygen. The ratio of hydrogen to oxygen in water is always $ 2:1 $ . Each molecule of water contains two hydrogen atoms bonded to a single oxygen atom. There are two basic types of compounds, molecular compounds and ionic compounds.
Ionic compounds are neutral compounds made up of positively charged ions called cations and negatively charged ions called anions. To find the formula of an ionic compound, first identify the cation and write down its symbol and charge. Then, identify the anion and write down its symbol and charge. Finally, combine the two ions to form an electrically neutral compound. For example, the metal calcium ( $ Ca $ ) and the nonmetal chlorine ( $ Cl $ ) form the ionic compound calcium chloride ( $ CaC{l_2} $ ). In this compound, there are two negative chloride ions for each positive calcium ion. Similarly, another example is sodium chloride.

Note :
Note that the ionic compounds are formed by metallic elements with low electronegativity with nonmetals that have a high electronegativity. The ionic compounds that contain only two types of elements are known as binary ionic compounds. Ionic compounds also known as salts.
