Hint - The town of Seringapatam, now identified as Srirangapatna was located near the ancient city of Mysore. It was the site of the signing of the Treaty of Seringapatam, which was signed after the conclusion of the Third Anglo Mysore war.
Complete Step by Step Answer-
The Treaty of Seringapatam was signed in 1792 between the Ruler of Mysore, Tipu Sultan and Lord Cornwallis, the representative of British forces after the conclusion of the third Anglo Mysore war.
OPTION A - The Nawab of Hyderabad was a signatory of the treaty, but he has been included because he has provided support to the English forces in exchange of gaining territories after the war. Under the treaty, the Nizam received the lands between the Krishna to the Penner River and the forts of Cuddapah and Gandikota. However it was NOT SIGNED BETWEEN THE NAWAB AND TIPU, the Nawab was simply a beneficiary.
OPTION B - Tipu Sultan had friendly relations with the French, much to the annoyance of Britishers in India. The two parties were never involved in a war on opposite sides and hence did not sign a treaty.
OPTION C - The Treaty of Seringapatam was signed between the English and Tipu Sultan. After the latter had been defeated in the third Anglo Mysore war a treaty was imposed to hum under which he had to cede almost half of his territory to the kingdoms on the winning side and also pay a large indemnity.
OPTION D - Hyder Ali or Haider Ali was Tipu Sultan's father. He was the ruler of Mysore before Tipu and has snatched power from the local rulers to establish his dominance. When he died, the reign of his kingdom passed into his son's hands.
Note - The Treaty of Seringapatam was signed between Tipu Sultan and the English forces. After Tipu was defeated by the British in the Third Anglo Mysore war, this treaty was signed to conclude the war and to ensure stability in future relations. In total, four Anglo-Mysore wars were fought between the two sides.
