Durga Charan Ray’s novel ‘Debanger Martye Aagaman’(the god visits earth) basically explains the two contrasting images of the city of Calcutta. It explains how when Lord Brahma travels the city he is amused to see and witness the routine of a city life. The novel shows positive as well as negative aspects of Calcutta.
Positive- The simple city is changed into a modern metro city featuring big markets having big shops with a variety of commodities.
