Hint: The plants that are grown in the water that may be either fully or partly submerged in the water are called the hydrophytes. It is classified into three types as the submerged hydrophytes, floating hydrophytes and the amphibious hydrophytes.

Complete answer:
Submerged hydrophytes are fully immersed in the water and it does not have any contact with the surrounding atmosphere. These plants either possess roots or it may be free floating in nature. The free-floating plants do not possess roots, they simply float in the water without attaching themselves to the below soil. The floating but rooted hydrophytes are also coming under this category in which the plants have the roots attached to the bottom of the water but have the shoot parts floating above the water.

The example of this type is Nymphaea. This is also called as water lilies which have the root penetrated in the soil under the water but all the other parts like leaves, buds, flowers etc. float on the water. All the other options Wolffia, Salvinia and the hydrilla do not possess roots, they float in the water.

Hence the correct answer is OPTION(A)

Note: Water lilies possess roots for the absorption of the water or the minerals from the soil. Since they can be absorbed by the leaves by the process of the osmosis. The main reason behind the presence of the root is for the purpose of anchorage in the soil without the continuous movement in water.
