Hint:Monsoon is one of the prominent seasons in the world. The name ‘monsoon’ was given to this change of season because the word literally means “season”. The season consists of humongous winds which can turn into tornadoes and typhoons followed by continuous rainfall and relatively humid weather. This phenomenon occurs due to change in pressure near the oceans.

Complete answer:
The season of Monsoon consists of huge clusters of wind systems that travels seasonally and occasionally reverses its direction. Monsoons are found in all kinds of landscapes but, monsoons that occur in areas like South Asia, Africa and Australia are the major ones. Monsoonal climatic sequences are also found along the Gulf Coast and the Pecific coast of the United States and in central Europe. But these monsoons are not considered as actual monsoons .Monsoon occurs when a huge shift in temperatures occurs over the sea or the land. As the atmospheric temperature decreases or increases, it creates an imbalanced pressure system over the terrain .This will cause an accelerated air flow resulting in movements towards points of lower pressure and that is how monsoons occur. Monsoon winds typically travel from sea to land in summer and from land to sea in winter.
In comparison,Summer monsoons are of greater strength and are capable of producing high amounts of rainfall. This monsoon is known as wet monsoon. As the result of this monsoon, water vapour condensation in the atmosphere happens at a faster rate. The intensity and duration of these rains are not uniform from year to year.

India has one of the longest and strongest monsoon seasons in the world. This monsoon covers India and the water bodies surrounding the sub continent. It travels from the northeast during cooler months and reverses direction to blow from the southwest during the warmest months of the year. This process brings large amounts of rainfall to the region during June and July.
The word "monsoon" is derived from the Arabic word mausim, which means season. Basically, a seasonal wind change over a region that is typically followed by a drastic increase in rainfall is defined.

Hence, the correct answer is option (B).

Note:Not only India but also many regions, including North America, witness monsoons. North American monsoon usually occurs during July-September (also known as the Mexican monsoon) and is relatively small compared to the Asian monsoon. In parts of Mexico, however, more than 50 percent of the annual rainfall occurs in this three-month period. The rains provide a vital source of water supply replenishment for Mexico and the United States.
