Lightning is the electric discharge which happens due to imbalance between electrically charged regions in the atmosphere. This discharge is seen as a bright flash of light. As we have seen that the handle of an umbrella is generally made up of metals, so there might be a possibility of the electric charge traveling through this metal rod. If this happens, the person carrying the umbrella will suffer a high voltage shock which is fatal.
Hence, I will not carry an umbrella on a day with thunderstorms.
