Hint
In this question, first discuss lightning and how it forms and then discuss why one should not carry an umbrella during a thunderstorm.

Complete step by step answer
As we know that lightning occurs because of the imbalance between the clouds and sometimes ground. Lightning is an electrical discharge which mainly occurs within the clouds. When a thunderstorm forms there is huge collision between rains, ice or snow inside the thunderstorm which increases the imbalance between the clouds and ground. Thus negative charge forms at the lower part of the clouds and trees, big monuments and the earth itself become positive. Hence lightning occurs.
Lightning is extremely hot as this heat causes the air to rapidly expand and vibrate, which creates the sound we hear after a few seconds of lightning.
In this question it is stated that the weather department has predicted that a thunderstorm is likely to occur. So if you have to go out on that day you should not carry an umbrella. This is because lightning is an electric flash and the handle of the umbrella is made of metallic materials as the metallic materials carry the electric flash it could give you a huge electric shock. So you should not carry an umbrella.

Note
As we know that, many of the houses are grounded by rods to protect the family inside. As if the lightning hits the house the current will flow through the rods to the ground.
