Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISL), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited. It is founded by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. It is a plant where alloy steels and pig iron are produced.
 Their main objective was to produce the rich iron ore deposits near Kemmanagundi in the BabaBudangiri hills and manufacture pig iron and other products.
It is located in Bhadravathi, Karnataka India. It was started in Mysore city as Mysore Iron Works on January 18,1923 by Sir M Visvesvaraya, He was Diwan of King Nalwadi Krishnaraj Vadeyar. Now it's steel plant under the jurisdiction of the Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL).
VISL produces Iron ore to special alloy steel, of different purity.
VISL developed boiler steel, micro alloyed steel and also supplied Value added CRM rolls & machinery to Integrated Steel Plants. It has received the ISO / TS 16949 : 2009 certificate & ISO 14001 : 2004 EMS. It uses the Central Marketing Organization (CMO) Network for distribution.
