Complete Answer:
The University of Nalanda was set-up by Kumargupta I, one of the famous rulers of the Gupta Dynasty.
During its peak time, it attracted several scholars and students even from foreign.
Some scholars and students visited even from Tibet, China, Korea, and Central Asia.
Nalanda University was devoted to not only Buddhist studies but also trained students in fine arts, medicine, mathematics, astronomy, politics, and the art of war.
Each building was nine stories high and had an enormous collection of books that covered various subjects ranging from religion, literature, astrology, astronomy, medicine, and much more
There were also other India's early universities and learning centers such as Taxila, Nalanda, and Vikramashila. Some historians believed that Nalanda University was destroyed three times by foreign invaders, but rebuilt only twice. The first destruction of Nalanda University was caused by the Huns under Mihirakula during the reign of Skandagupta (455–467 AD). But Skanda’s successors restored the library and improved it with an even bigger building.

Hence, answer C is the right option.

Note: Nalanda university was rebuilt only two times, although it destroyed thrice the time.
Now it is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
