Hint: The meaning of the title ‘Devanampriya' is ‘Beloved of God'. The title of ‘Devanam Priya' was given to the Ruler of the Maurya Dynasty. Inspired by Lord Buddha's principles, this Emperor also promotes the religion of Buddhism not only in his kingdom but in the whole world.

Complete answer:
Ashoka had earned the title of Devanampriya through the people of his kingdom. He was the most powerful ruler who ruled almost all parts of India from 268 BCE to 232 BCE. He was awarded the title of ‘Devanampriya' because He was very close to God. He started following the path of Ahimsa and helped others in attaining the spiritual truth by spreading the Buddhism religion in the whole of Asia. After a lot of damage and destruction all around in the Kalinga War, Ashoka decided to give up the path of war and cruelty and started following the principles of Dhamma and also appealed the same to the people of his Empire. He always respected other religions and never urged anyone to follow or to study any particular religion. He opened hospitals for peoples and animals at no cost, constructed many rest houses for the travellers, planted lots of trees and much more humanity works.
So, the correct answer is Option C.

Note: He was so much attached to the policy of Dhamma that he made a group of ministers known as ‘Dharma Ministers' to teach people the importance of Dharma. He made many stupas, pillars and monasteries and engraved religious facts on them for peoples. The Chakra present in our National Flag has been adopted from the Ashoka's Sarnath Pillar of Lion Capital.
