An Act of Parliament of India which sets out the rules , regulation and procedures regarding right to information of citizens are called Right to Information. On 15 June 2005 The Right to Information Act was passed by the parliament and came fully in force on 12 October 2005 . Every citizen has a basic right to be informed under the Act of Right to Information . Authorities under Right to Information Act 2005 are called quasi-judicial authorities . Under the Act of Right to Information public authority is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days to any citizen of India may request information . every public authority required to computerize their record for wide dissemination and to proactively publish certain information under the Right to Information Act , so that citizens need minimum resources to request for information formally .
Right to Information Act , is applicable to the whole of India equally except Jammu and Kashmir .Under the article 370 of the Constitution of India , Jammu and Kashmir has Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act which was in force in the state of Jannu and kashmir .
