Hint: Heart is a four-chambered muscular organ found in the thoracic cavity and is slightly tilted towards the left side. It is one of the most vital organs and it helps in pumping of blood through the network of veins and arteries.
Complete answer:
The opening of the right auricle into the right ventricle is guarded by a tricuspid valve. Heart is a muscular organ made up of cardiac muscles. It plays an important role in the circulation of blood throughout the body. Heart is a dark brown or red in color and is considerable to the size of a person’s closed fist. Heart consists of 4 chambers. The upper two chambers are called aurides or atrium and the lower two chambers are called ventricles. On the basis of the direction or position, the chambers are again subdivided into right auricle and right ventride.
Blood enters into the heart through two large veins namely superior vena cava and inferior vena cava. This carries impure or deoxygenated blood from the body into right atrium blood is then passed from right atrium to right veniside when sight atrium contracts. It takes place with help of a tricuspid valve which prevents backflow of blood. This deoxygenated blood is passed to lungs for purification when the right ventricle contracts.
The blood becomes purified and oxygen rich blood enters into the left atrium. When the left atrium contracts, this oxygenated blood reaches the left ventricle through the mitral valve.
When the left ventricle contracts, blood leaves the heart through the aortic valve. The valve prevents the backflow of blood into the chamber. The oxygenated blood is carried to different body parts with the help of arteries and deoxygenated blood from various body parts is collected by the help of veins.
Therefore, from the above explanation correct option is (D) Tricuspid valve.
Note: Arteries and veins are the blood carrying vessels. Arteries carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonary artery and veins carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonary veins. There are 4 heart valves in the human heart. The main function of heart valves is prevention of backflow of blood. The various functions of heart are,
i) They carry oxygen and nutrients to the entire body.
ii) They pump blood throughout the lifetime of an individual ensuring that blood reaches all parts of the body.
iii) It is also involved in regulation of body temperature.
