The length in centimeters (to the nearest centimeter) of 30 carrots are given as follows: -
15, 22, 21, 20, 22, 15, 15, 20, 20, 15, 20, 18, 20, 22, 21, 20, 21, 18, 21, 18, 20, 18, 21, 18, 22, 20, 11, 21, 18, 20.
Arrange the data given above in a table using tally marks and answer the following questions.

Hint: Create a table of three columns. In the first column write the different lengths present in the data. In the second column draw the tally marks according to the rules. In the third column mention the value of the tally marks in number. Now, observe the table carefully and see the highest numerical value for the length of carrot that occurred maximum and similarly see the lowest for the minimum.

Complete step by step answer:
Here we have been provided with the length (in centimeter) of 30 carrots and we are asked to draw a table using the tally marks that may depict the number of carrots of a particular length present in the data. Also we need to find the length of carrots that occurs a maximum and minimum number of times.
Now, the data present are: -
15, 22, 21, 20, 22, 15, 15, 20, 20, 15, 20, 18, 20, 22, 21, 20, 21, 18, 21, 18, 20, 18, 21, 18, 22, 20, 15, 21, 18, 20.
Clearly we can see that the different types of length present in the data are: 15, 18, 20, 21 and 22. So drawing a table containing the tally marks we get,

Clearly we can see that the carrot that occurs the most is of length 20 cm. It appeared 9 times. Also, the carrot that appeared the least number of times is of length 22 cm. It appeared 4 times.

Note: You must be careful while counting the carrots of different length as one wrong counting can make the final answer wrong. Remember that we draw four vertical lines for four counts and then for the fifth count we cross the four vertical lines with a single line which starts from the top of the first line and ends at the bottom of the fourth line.
