Complete answer:
River Ganga refers to the sacred river of India. It is regarded as a Goddess and mother in the Hindu religion. The headwaters of the Ganga is known as 'Bhagirathi', and is fed by the Gangotri Glacier. Gangotri Glacier is located in the Uttarkashi District in the state of Uttarakhand in India which is in a region that is bordering Tibet. This glacier is regarded as one of the primary sources of the Ganges. It is also one of the largest in the Himalayas having an estimated volume of more than 27 cubic kilometers.

The glacier is around 30 kilometres long and approximately 2 to 4 km wide. Around the glacier the peaks of the Gangotri Group are present which includes several peaks that are considered notable for extremely challenging climbing routes, like the Shivling, Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhagirathi III. It flows roughly through the northwest, originating in a cirque present below Chaukhamba, which is the highest peak of the group.

Hence, the correct answer is option ‘C’.
