Complete answer:
Kaveri River (also spelled Cauvery) rises from Brahmagiri Hills of the Western Ghats in the state of Karnataka, at an elevation of 1,341 meters above sea level. This river has many tributaries including Hemavati, Harangi, Kabini, Bhavani, Lakshmana Tirtha, Noyyal, and Arkavati. The basin of this River covers the state of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and some parts of Kerala along with the union territory of Puducherry.
The river rises from a small pond named Kundike at the place called Talakaveri (head of Kaveri). The length of the Kaveri river is around 800 km, flowing in the south-west direction it empties into the Bay of Bengal. Shivanasamudra Falls are also along the path of this river.
This river is also the source of hydroelectric power and provides irrigation of extensive coverage. Tamil Nadu is the biggest beneficiary of this irrigation system. Shivanasamudra dam was the first hydro-electric dam in the whole of Asia and it was built in the early 1900s.
Before emptying into the Bay of Bengal, this river separates into many distributaries forming a broad delta also referred to as the “Garden of southern India”.

Thus, option (C) is correct.

Note: Kaveri river is the third largest river in southern states of India, Trailing behind Godavari river and Krishna river. In the state of Tamil Nadu, it is the largest river.
