Hint: Relate tessellated epithelium with the simple squamous epithelium and judge the following options. Just try to recall the structure of single layered epithelium.

Complete solution:
Tessellated epithelium is a simple squamous epithelium generally made up of a single layer of polygonal cells, with irregular boundaries. These cells with irregular boundaries are closely fitted like tiles in the floor (That is why the term is given Tessellated). When these irregular cells fit into each other it forms a wavy border which gives it a wave like appearance. Another name for this Tessellated membrane is pavement membrane. This type of epithelium is often permeable and occurs where small molecules need to pass quickly through membranes via filtration or diffusion. Simple squamous epithelium are generally found in capillaries, alveoli, glomeruli, and other tissues where rapid diffusion is required.
This Squamous epithelium plays a great role in the function of Bowman's capsule ( we are aware that there occurs ultrafiltration of urine in the bowman's capsule in the process of urine formation). It also performs exchange of materials between the blood capillaries and the tissue fluids, exchange of gases is also performed by squamous epithelium.

So, the correct answer is option D.

Note:
Tessellated epithelium is another name for simple squamous epithelium due to it’s tile-like appearance. It’s hexagonal (polygonal cells are generally hexagonal) cells are irregularly fit into each other. It is found in alveoli of lungs, Bowman’s capsule and in those areas where there is a need for rapid diffusion.
