- Red rot disease is associated with the plants. This is a fungal disease which is caused by the fungi name as Glomerella tucumanensis which is also called as Colletotrichum falcatum.
- This fungi produces spores without undergoing any sexual process.

- Cool, wet weather, heavy soils and continuous planting of the same variety of a plant on the same land favour this disease.

Symptoms of red rot disease:
- Due to red rot disease stems show the large red spots on the outside and internal red rots with white patches. As the roots develop, the stem can be easily broken. Stem are infected with red rot disease through the nodes and through wounds.
- Due to the red rot disease, a small oval red spot occurs on the midrib of leaves and upper surface of the leaf.

Detection of red rot disease:
- It can be detected by looking on to the red patches on the stems and midrib of the top surface of the leaf.
- Also looking for white spots in the pith.
