Hint: Epidermis consists of five layers. Uppermost layer is known as stratum corneum. Stratum lucidum is the thick skin layer. It contains dead keratinocytes as in stratum corneum. Stratum granulosum is present below the stratum lucidum. Dermis consists of two layers of connective tissues. Hair follicles are found in this layer.

Complete answer:
Skin is the outer covering of the body; it is made up of mainly three layers, the epidermis, dermis, and the hypodermis. Each layer has its specific function. Skin acts as an initial barrier for pathogens, UV light, and chemicals, and mechanical injury. It also helps in regulating body temperature. Epidermis has five layers: stratum basale (the deepest portion of the epidermis), stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and stratum corneum( the most superficial portion of the epidermis).
Stratum lucidum layer is the cell layer present in thick skin found in the palms and soles, is a thin clear layer consisting of eleidin which is a transformation product of keratohyalin. It is a smooth, translucent layer of epidermis that is located just above the stratum granulosum and below the stratum corneum. It is composed of 3 to 5 layers of dead flattened keratinocytes. They are filled with eleidin, an intermediate form of keratin. Keratinocytes move through the stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum.
The thickness of this layer is controlled by the rate of mitosis of the epidermal cells. The darkness of the stratum lucidum is determined by Melanosomes. . Dermis is connected to the basal membrane consisting of two layers of connective tissues. It has hair follicles in it.
From the above information we have found that stratum lucidum is found in epidermis below stratum corneum.

So, the correct answer is option A.

Note: Stratum corneum is the topmost layer that is made up of keratin and horny scales made up of dead keratinocytes, known as a nucleate squamous cell. It secretes defenses which are the part of our first immune defense. The deepest layer of epidermis is called stratum basale. Melanocyte is present in the stratum basale which is responsible for the pigment of the skin.
