Hint:In this problem we have to think in terms of heat conductivity. Since during summer the mercury outside is very high and in winters the temperature outside is very low, so we are here dealing with the flow of heat.

Complete step by step answer:
Mud is a poor conductor of heat. During the summer season, the sun is blazingly hot and the outside temperature is very high than the temperature inside the mud so we feel cooler in a mud house. Whereas in the winter season the outside temperature is very low and during the night it drops to zero then the temperature inside the mud. So, we feel warmer in a mud house because mud does not allow the heat inside to go outside easily. Basically mud houses act as an insulator they don’t allow the heat to pass through them that’s why we feel cooler in summer and hot in winter.

Additional information:
Heat is a form of energy and as per second law of thermodynamics heat flows from a region of higher temperature to the lower region of temperature and heat cannot itself move from a region of higher temperature to the region of lower temperature. If we want such to happen an external source is needed for the work and that is what happens in case of AC or a fridge.

Note: Mud because of its poor conductivity works as a separator between two regions which are at different temperatures and heat always flows from a region of higher temperature to the lower.
