Mud is a poor conductor of heat. During the summer season, the sun is blazingly hot and the outside temperature is very high than the temperature inside the mud so we feel cooler in a mud house. Whereas in the winter season the outside temperature is very low and during the night it drops to zero then the temperature inside the mud. So, we feel warmer in a mud house because mud does not allow the heat inside to go outside easily. Basically mud houses act as an insulator they don’t allow the heat to pass through them that’s why we feel cooler in summer and hot in winter.

Heat is a form of energy and as per second law of thermodynamics heat flows from a region of higher temperature to the lower region of temperature and heat cannot itself move from a region of higher temperature to the region of lower temperature.
