Hint: One of the processes of preventing rusting is a type of barrier method, nevertheless, it is more accurately a "sacrificial" method, wherein the iron is coated with a more reactive metal such as zinc. The other process involves mixing it with other metals to prevent it from rusting.

Complete step-by-step answer:
> Rust is another name of ferrous oxide ${ Fe }_{ 2 }{ O }_{ 3 }$, which is formed when the iron gets oxidized.
> The following reaction will take place:
${ 4Fe+3O }_{ 2 }{ +2H }_{ 2 }{ O\rightarrow 2Fe }_{ 2 }{ O }_{ 3 }{ .xH }_{ 2 }{ O }$
The following are the two ways to prevent the rusting of iron are:
(i) Oiling, painting, or greasing: When we apply oil, grease, or paint, then the surface becomes waterproof and the moisture and oxygen present in the air cannot come into direct contact with iron. Therefore, rusting can be prevented.
(ii) Galvanization: When the iron article is covered with a layer of zinc metal, at that point it keeps the iron from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture. In this way, rusting can be prevented.
(iii) By alloying - mixing iron with another metal/non-metal to prevent it from rusting.

Note: Other than a barrier and sacrificial methods, rusting can also be prevented by using anti-rust solutions like alkaline chromate and alkaline phosphate solutions.
