Some organic compounds are given.
(I) $C{H_3} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - C{H_3}$
(II) $C{H_3} - C{H_2} - O - C{H_2} - C{H_3}$
(III) $C{H_3} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - OH$
(IV) $C{H_3} - C{H_2} - COOH$
(A) Identify alcohol from these compounds.
(B) Write the IUPAC name of the alcohol.
(C) Of the other compounds, one compound is an isomer of the other compound. Find the isomer pair and name the isomerism.

Hint: In this question, we will answer the given options respectively. Alcoholic compounds are the compounds which have OH groups in this. We will simply find this group in each compound. Refer to the solution below.
Complete step by step solution:
> Answer (a).
As we can see from the above options, only compound three can be considered as an alcoholic compound due to the presence of OH group.
> Answer (b).
The IUPAC name of the given compound three is butan-1-ol.
$ \Rightarrow C{H_3} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - C{H_2} - OH$
> Answer (c).
From the given compounds, compound two and compound three are the isomers of the compound three. They have functional group isomerism.
> Answer (d).
Compound second is ether while compound three is alcohol. And both have the same number of elements.
> Butyl alcohol (C$_4$H$_9$OH), all four organic compounds of the same molecular formula, but different structures: normal butyl alcohol (n-), butyl alcohol Secondary (Sec-), isobutyl alcohol and butyl alcohol (t-) in tertiary form. All four of these alcohols have significant industrial uses. The solvent n – butyl alcohol is a paint, a resin and other coating solvent and is a hydraulic brake fluid component. A significant volume of n-butyl alcohol is converted to esters, for example as a paint solvent, butyl acetate and dibutyl phthalate (to keep plastics from having breakage) into plasticizer.
> Sec-butyl alcohol is applied to a limited extent in solvents and esters, and the higher quantities are oxidized into methyl ethyl ketone (2-butanone), a significant solvent in plastic, materials, and explosives manufacture.
Note: Isobutyl alcohol is used in solvents and plasticizers, similar to n-butyl alcohol. This is also used in flavourings of fruits. T-butyl alcohol is also used to treat ethyl alcohol as a solvent and denaturing agent. This is used in flavours and perfumes in smaller quantities.
