Now we will be subtracting the equation 3 with 4, we get

6x + 12y - \left( {6x + 10y} \right) = - 60 - \left( { - 48} \right) \\
6x + 12y - 6x - 10y = - 60 + 48 \;

Combining all the like terms, we obtain our equation as
$ 2y = - 12 $
Dividing both sides of the equation with the coefficient of $ y $ i.e. 2,we have the value of $ y $ equal to

\dfrac{{2y}}{2} = \dfrac{{ - 12}}{2} \\
y = - 6 \;

Hence, we have obtained the value of $ y = - 6 $ .
Now putting this value of $ y $ in the equation (1) to get the value of $ x $
