$ - 2x + 3y = 5 $ ---(1)
$ - x + y = - 3 $ ----(2)

Here we will be using an elimination method to eliminate the term having $ y $ from both the equations.
And to do so we have to first make the mod of coefficient of $ y $ in both the equation equal to each.
In the first equation the mod of coefficient of $ y $ is 3, so multiplying both side of the equation (2) with the number 3, we get

\Rightarrow 3\left( { - x + y} \right) = 3\left( { - 3} \right) \\
- 3x + 3y = - 9 \;

Now Subtracting the above equation with the equation (1) , we get

\Rightarrow - 3x + 3y - \left( { - 2x + 3y} \right) = - 9 - 5 \\
- 3x + 3y + 2x - 3y = - 14 \;

Combining like terms we get
$ - x = - 14 $
Solving the equation for variable $ x $ by multiplying both sides of the equation with the coefficient of $ x $ i.e. $ - 1 $

\Rightarrow - 1\left( { - x} \right) = - 1\left( { - 14} \right) \\
x = 14 \;
$
Hence, we have obtained the value of $ x = 14 $ .
Now putting this value of $ x $ in the equation (2) to get the value of \[y\]

\Rightarrow - \left( {14} \right) + y = - 3 \\
- 14 + y = - 3 \\
y = 14 - 3 \\
