Hint: To solve this question we need to make use of the basic mathematical operations. In subtraction we just have to subtract the smaller number from the greater one and the result will have the sign of the greater number.
Complete step by step answer:
Given that $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2}$. Now make use of the cross-multiplication method, we have $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} \Rightarrow \dfrac{{(2 \times 4) - 3}}{{3 \times 2}}$
Now by the multiplication operation, $2 \times 4 = 8$ and also $3 \times 2 = 6$
Hence substitute the values, then we get $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{{(2 \times 4) - 3}}{{3 \times 2}} \Rightarrow \dfrac{{8 - 3}}{6}$
Now by the subtraction operation, $8 - 3 = 5$ and hence we get $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{{(2 \times 4) - 3}}{{3 \times 2}} \Rightarrow \dfrac{{8 - 3}}{6} \Rightarrow \dfrac{5}{6}$
Thus, we get $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{5}{6}$ or in the decimal form as $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{5}{6} \Rightarrow 0.8333$ and hence which is the simplified form of the given values.
We can also able to solve this in the decimal form of the given as, $\dfrac{4}{3} = 1.333$ and $\dfrac{1}{2} = 0.5$ and thus we get $\dfrac{4}{3} - \dfrac{1}{2} = 1.333 - 0.5 \Rightarrow 0.8333$
Note:
In integers there are two important terms which are additive identity and multiplicative identity. $0$ is called additive identity which means if we add or subtract any number from $0$ then we will get the number itself and $1$ is called multiplicative identity which means if we multiply or divide any number from $1$ then we will get the number itself.
Students make mistakes while writing the result of subtraction as they forget to put a minus sign if in subtraction the greater number has a minus sign. For example if we simplify $2-3$ and $3-2$ we will subtract 2 from 3 in both cases and get the result as 1 but both will have different signs as first one will be -1 and second will be 1.
