Hint:An alloy can be termed as the mixture of metals which can be two or more than two. In the result, the product obtained has good strength, good mechanical and chemical properties. Solder is used to join two metals by melting them firstly.

Complete answer:
Soldering is a kind of process where different varieties of metals are joined together by melting solder (an alloy) at high temperatures.
Solder is generally used to make strong permanent bonds say for example, joining copper wire in the electrical boards, etc.
There are three types of soldering that are generally used-
Firstly, soft soldering which is used at a temperature between $90^\circ C$ to $450^\circ C$. In this method the temperature used is too low, so it thermally stresses the components. But the joints formed are not too strong. Hence this method is not used for heavy load bearing systems and also not used in high temperatures as the solder melts and loses its strength.
Secondly, Hard soldering is used in temperatures more than $450^\circ C$. In this process silver and brass are the main bonding metals. A blowtorch is used here generally to get such a high temperature.
Thirdly, Brazing is another method used in the temperature range same as above. Here the metal used has a very high melting point than the other two processes. A strong and stable bond is formed here.
Solder is an alloy of metals usually made by tin and lead generally a eutectic mixture.
In this process these metals are melted by using hot iron above a temperature of $600^\circ F$ which further undergoes cooling and a strong bond is formed.

Hence, the correct option is (a).

Note:
Soldering guns are also used to get a high temperature as melting iron does not provide the required high temperature. It is used to join light sheet metal, stained glass and in other electrical work.Soldering suckers are also used in the whole set up of soldering. This tool is mainly used in that place excess of solder is applied and removal is needed. They suck the extra solder and then the required portion is left behind.
